If you use Mailchimp’s Classic Automation Builder, important changes are coming.
Starting June 1, 2025, Mailchimp will discontinue the Classic Automation Builder, and all automated emails will only be available through a paid marketing plan using the Customer Journey Builder. If you rely on Classic Automations, this update directly impacts your email workflows.
What’s Changing?
Mailchimp is phasing out its original automation tool to focus on enhancing the Customer Journey Builder. Here’s what to expect:
- On June 1, 2025, all Classic Automations will be archived—no new contacts will enter these workflows.
- You’ll still be able to view reports for past Classic Automations, but they won’t be editable or reusable.
- Any contacts in an active automation queue will not complete the workflow after June 1.
What You Need to Do Before June 1, 2025
If your business relies on automated email sequences, here’s how to stay ahead of the transition:
✅ Check Your Current Automations – Identify any active Classic Automations that need to be rebuilt.
✅ Upgrade to a Paid Marketing Plan – Automation will only be available for paid users.
✅ Migrate to Customer Journey Builder – Set up new, optimized drip campaigns in Mailchimp’s latest automation tool.
