We wrote some time back that newsletters are dead. This controversial statement is true. No one wants to read a super long email with article after article. Instead, put your news on your website or blog, and use email to drive people to your website to read more. Keep your emails short and concise.
Remember, email is a marketing CHANNEL.
Also, try to keep your copy to a minimum. A great tip we’ve applied to our customer emails is this:
- Write your copy in full
- Now break it down by article
- Then for each article write a summary
- Finally, take a hatchet to each summary and remove the filler words
Spend as much time on copy editing as you do on copywriting.
