So, why are your emails not being read?
When sending out email blasts it is common for a badly strategized campaigns to end up being flagged down by the spam police. These campaigns may never be seen at all by your audience!
There are whopping 10 million spam and malicious emails being sent EVERY minute, so we certainly need to be grateful for our email service providers for keeping us safe!
With more than 1.5 billion people across the globe using Gmail, there is yet another folder to be wary of and that is the promotion folder. Yet another layer to break through to get your email into that cosy inbox!
So once you finally get into the inbox are your emails then being read and generating any engagement?
For years I have worked in marketing and copywriting and I want to share with you some of both mine and the team here at Chimp Essentials proven methods of making vast improvements to your copy.
So here we go, 7 tips to help you get your emails flowing into the inbox, being opened and actually converting.
Tip no1 – Personalization is key!
Personlize your email copy in every way possible. I know this sounds like old hat by now but you’d be amazed how many clients we work with that are still not using even the most basic of personalization.
Now days people want a personalized experience in just about every place that they choose to spend their precious time. Emails are by no means any different.
Make your reader feel like the copy is written specifically for them and not just a generic email that’s been blasted out to everyone.
By organizing your list and by segmenting traits such as your audience’s behaviour, habits and history you can really tailor an email that’s way more personalized than just a simple name tag.
Remind your reader why they subscribed to your list in every email you send!
Tip no2 – Start with a killer subject line
Ok so lets face it, the subject line is that deciding factor whether or not your email gets opened at all. If its dull or not compelling enough your reader will simply skip past and leave you for dust!
You need to make your subject line stand out. Use a catchy compelling subject line with a colourful emoji that immediately grabs attention.
A great subject line should be concise, intriguing and should spark curiosity to encourage your reader to click and see what the email is all about.
Its always a good idea to research top trending keywords on social media and see if you can fit these into your subject line.
Tip no3 – Keep it simple and concise
When it comes to email copy, less is more. People are often busy and don’t have the time or attention span to read through lengthy emails. Make sure your copy is simple and concise, and gets straight to the point.
Avoid using jargon or complex language that your audience may not understand. Instead, use clear and simple language that conveys your message effectively. Remember that your goal is to get your message across in a clear and concise way.
To increase conversions and engagement, you need to use persuasive language in your email copy. Persuasive language can help persuade your audience to take action, whether that’s clicking through to your website or making a purchase.
Use power words and action verbs to create a sense of urgency and excitement in your email copy. Make sure your email copy is written in a way that makes your audience feel like they need your product or service.
Tip no4 – Include a clear and inviting CTA
A clear and inviting Call-To-Action (CTA) is one of the most important elements of your email copy, as it encourages your reader to take action and engage with your business. Your CTA should be well-crafted, eye-catching and relevant to your email’s objective.
Use action-oriented language that will inspire your reader to click, such as “Sign up now” or “Get started today”. Make sure your CTA stands out visually, using contrasting colors or bold fonts to draw the eye.
Also, keep in mind that the placement of your CTA is important. Place your CTA in a prominent position, such as the bottom of your email or smack bang in the middle with a leading paragraph of text.
Lastly, don’t include too many CTAs in your email as this can just lead to confusion and dilute the effectiveness of your email. One or two well-placed CTAs are generally enough to get that click.
Tip no5 – Add value to your email copy
Don’t keep sending emails for the sake of sending regular emails! Yes we here at Chimp Essentials are huge fans of short more frequent emails but to keep your audience engaged and interested in your emails, you need to add some value to your email copy. This means providing your audience with useful information, insights, or tips that they can use in their own lives. Its not about you and what you offer, its about what benefits your reader will have by engaging with you.
By providing value to your audience, your gonna build trust and establish yourself as an expert in your field. This will help you generate engagement and conversions.
Tip no6 – Use visuals to enhance your message
Visuals can be a powerful tool in email marketing. Use high-quality images, videos, and infographics to enhance your message and make your email more engaging. We like to throw in some animated gifs to make your email look fun and draw attention to specific areas of the email.
Visuals can also help break up large blocks of text and make your email easier to read. However, make sure that the visuals you use are relevant to your message and are not just there for decoration.
Tip no7 – Test, measure, and refine your email campaigns
Finally, it’s important to test, measure, and refine your email campaigns over time. Use A/B testing to test different subject lines, email copy, and calls-to-action to see what works best.
Measure your results using analytics tools to see how many people are opening your emails, clicking through to your website, and making a purchase. Use this information to refine your email campaigns and improve your conversion rates over time.
So there you have it, seven tips to help you write awesome email copy that is proven to increase conversion and engagement with your audience. By following these tips and tailoring them to your own unique style and message, you can create email campaigns that are both effective and memorable.
